Santa
Fe 3751 The Glory of Steam
Santa Fe 3751 is the most beautifully restored operating steam locomotive
in the country and is very popular among Santa Fe fans as well as
steam enthusiasts. This collection of recordings was chosen from over
a decade of rare excursions pulled by the 4-8-4 Northern locomotive
challenging the grades of California's Tehachapi and Cajon Pass, the
high-speed mainlines of the Mojave Desert and the reverberant tree-lined
trackage between Williams, Arizona and the Grand Canyon.
The deep mournful whistle and clanging bell, the steady accelerating
bark of the exhaust, the giant connecting rods clanking on the 80-inch
drivers as the 3751 rockets by in a blur of spinning metal and hissing
steam is all part of the "glory of steam" experience captured
in digital stereo sound. This soundtrack contains 26 tracks; over
72 minutes of sound recorded from a variety of locations including
steep grades, high-speed run-bys, pacing alongside and a special “engine-ear's”
perspective from inside the cab!

Sleep
on a Train
Experience the sounds of yester-year aboard a cozy sleeping car. The
conductor calls "All aboard!" and a blast of the horn is
heard from the engine at the head of the train. The engines rev as
the conductor pulls up the steps and closes the vestibule door keeping
the outside engine noise down to a din. The train accelerates as you
snuggle in for the night. You hear the faint sounds of the 5-chime
horn and "ding-ding" of grade crossings ringing by as your
train moves through the city. The whir and rhythm of the "clickety-clack"
lulls you to sleep.
This CD is not a collection of recordings but a continuous soundtrack
designed to be a relaxing experience. The 10-minute fade will assure
you won't wake up at the end!

Talk; On Board - Sounds of "clickety-clack"
This CD contains over 1 hour of "clickety-clack" from on
board a variety of railroad equipment. Miles of welded ribbon rail
are replacing the bolted track responsible for the "track talk"
that is rapidly vanishing from America's modernized railroad main
lines. But you can enjoy that vintage clickety-clack from on board
a caboose, passenger car vestibule, observation platform and more
on this CD. Hear what it's like to ride between two boxcars at 50
mph or from the cab of a Santa Fe GP-35 diesel locomotive across the
Pasadena Subdivision with bells ringing and horns blaring.

Speed
and Power - Amazing Train Sounds
Listen to the thundering sounds of a set of diesel locomotives charging
up a hill with a heavy freight train. The sheer speed of a passenger
train warps the pitch of it’s horn as it races by at 90 miles
an hour. Find out what it sounds like to have a speeding train pass
inches from your ears, or a steam locomotive blasting out of a tunnel
directly beneath you on a steep grade. Experience the thrill of riding
on the front steps of a diesel locomotive at 60 mph, or blazing through
town in the vestibule of a 90-mph passenger train.
This soundtrack includes Union Pacific steam engines 3985 and 8444,
Santa Fe 3751, EMD and GE diesels, cab rides, on-boards, in engine
compartments, and other fascinating perspectives you’ve never
heard before.
